Strategic Military Storytelling for the 21st Century

Flat Circle History creator, writer, lead animator

John delivers an episodic cautionary tale about a potential third world war, using off-the-shelf simulation tools such as ARMA 3, DCS (Digital Combat Simulator), Command Modern Operations and Unreal Engine to illustrate strategic military operations. The story is told based on historical documents and rigorous research of unclassified military materials, subject matter expert interviews, and historical and present-day mapping down to street level.

Episodes are funded by more than 120k subscribers and attract an average of 400k+ viewers ranging from active military officials to professional military educators, to civilians. A lifetime Michigander, John has built a high-fidelity bridge between the technical simulation community and the broader strategic discourse, offering unique insights into how narrative can be used to visualize and analyze the "unthinkable" scenarios of tomorrow's conflicts.

Presentation topics may include:

  • "The Narrative Frontline:" How Digital Storytelling is Shaping Public Perception of Modern Warfare. Includes a technical demo of how scenes are created.

  • "COTS as a Force Multiplier:" Utilizing Commercial Game Engines for Professional Strategic Education.
